The wrapper uses https://github.com/jschr/bootstrap-modal/ -- a plugin that extends the Bootstrap modal with more functions, practical ones. The comments in the html (head) in the wrapper point to the instructions: https://github.com/jschr/bootstrap-modal/. The instructions tell us that if you wrap your entire page inside a .page-container class, the shifting won't happen or you can swap out the plugin and use only Bootstrap's modal but a lot of features will go away.
