In the live demo, you can try to change the color with customization panel and and you can see the template will change according to the selected color.
Maybe you made a mistake in adding orange.css file that should be after style.css file.
And for Close bar in the mobile menu is red even if you add orange.css, blue.css etc the same as in the live demo.

How do we use the orange stylesheet and then customize it with our own css? Your default css overwrites everything.
The mobile menu is an example of where the orange.css isn't being used so the Close bar is red.
