Hello, sorry for the late reply, at the moment I dont have plans to update the template in the short time. It could be updated to newer versions of the Angular framework but that means some plugins could not be compatible and require to find alternatives. If you want to try to update the template by yourself you could try to start with the seed variant which has a few dependency of the third party plugins.
